How to add Canonical Link in Blogspot/Blogger?

How to add Canonical Link in Blogspot/Blogger-  If you're new to blogging then you are definitely facing the issue of Duplicate Content. This error shows only because of Canonical link, which you don't have pasted in your HTML page, most of the blogger template has canonical. If you don't know What is Canonical Link, then you need to follow that link where you'll get the deep information about it.

The canonical link is an HTML tag link that tells the Search engines about the preferred location of your URL. It is a very important link for search engines as it deals with Duplicate Content problems.

According to Wikepidea, A canonical link element is an HTML element that helps webmasters prevent duplicate content issues in search engine optimization by specifying the "canonical" or "preferred" version of a web page. It is described in RFC 6596, which went live in April 2012.

How Does Canonical Link Work?

Let's take an example of your Blog post in Blogger, When you posted the blog then the URL of that Blog looks Like 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

https://domainname.blogspot.com/2020/09/example-post.html

On the same Post when someone do the comment then the URL becomes 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

https://domainname.blogspot.com/2020/09/example-post.html?showComment=7988007568215#c7527730009706463478

Now, these URLs seem like the same on the web page. Therefore, Search engines recognize this URL as a duplicate Content Case. To prevent this issue, we need to paste the canonical link in the header of the HTML of Blogger which tells the search engines to the preferred version of the URL  is https://domainname.blogspot.com/2020/09/example-post.html.

<link rel="canonical" href="https://domainname.blogspot.com/2020/09/example-post.html" />
